Can I nominate an organization for an Award?
No. The World of Children Awards were established to honor an individual or group of individuals who devote their lives to children. A cash grant accompanies each Award and must go to a sustainable organization.

Can I nominate someone who is no longer living, in memory of his or her work?
No. The Awards are not given posthumously.

Can I nominate myself?
Yes. You can nominate yourself.

Can I nominate someone who was nominated previously?
Yes. There is no limit to the number of times a person can be nominated, unless that person won the World of Children Award previously. (An Award recipient cannot be nominated again.)

Can I nominate someone who has already been nominated this year by someone else?
Yes. However, only one nomination will be reviewed. The World of Children retains the right to select which Nomination Form/application to use, solely at its discretion.

How do I determine which Award category?
The Awards are divided into three distinct categories. The Health Award is for those providing services specifically in the fields of health, nutrition, medicine and pediatric sciences. The Humanitarian Award is specifically for the education, the social and humanitarian services. The Founder's Award is specifically for a young person under the age of 21 who has provided exceptional services/support to other children. Please make your selection based on the preponderance of work your nominee has conducted for children, and be sure to review the 2010 Awards Eligibility and Selection Criteria before submitting your nomination.

Is my nomination information saved as I move throughout the online form?
Yes, and you will have the chance to save and edit the form at the very end. You will not, however, have the opportunity to go back and edit once you close out of the nomination form.

What is an Honoree?
World of Children deliberately refers to annual Award winners as Honorees. Each year, Honorees are recognized with a prestigious award to highlight and showcase their work. Grant funds are then distributed directly to the organization serving children that the Honoree has established or led.

What is the process in choosing Honorees?
Each year, both the World of Children National Selection Committee and the World of Children International Advisory Council, review the nominations of the Honorees. The World of Children Governing Board has the final decision regarding the annual Honorees.   The Honorees travel to New York City in the United States, for the World of Children celebration where they are recognized for their outstanding devotion to children.  All Honorees must be willing to be screened and vetted in a formal investigative review process which will substantiate their work.

When will I be notified if my nominee is chosen as an Honoree?
Finalist Honorees will be notified no later than October.

When and where will the Honorees be recognized?
In November of 2010, World of Children will bring together all of the Honorees in New York City for an Award ceremony. Honorees must be able to participate in all related events during this time.

Is it appropriate to submit materials previously used for grant applications?
No. Please do not submit additional materials. Due to the large number of submissions, additional materials can not be reviewed.

How are funds disbursed?
World of Children honors individuals whose work on behalf of children has been extraordinary. All grant funds are distributed directly to the sustainable program for vulnerable children that is led by the Honoree.
