Health Award

markmanary2Mark Manary is an American doctor who successfully combats starvation in Africa with a common household staple. After 22 years of work to address starvation and malnutrition in developing countries, Dr.Mark Manary discovered that feeding children peanut butter offered the success rate so desperately needed. Before he started his "Project Peanut Butter" to battle the current hunger crises in Malawi, Africa, the recovery rates of starving children were only 30-40%---now 90% of children he treats are surviving. "Project Peanut Butter" has reached an estimated 20,000 children in just five years. World of Children funding has allowed Dr.Manary to recently expand the program to serve children in Sri Lanka too. Mark Manary MD won a 2007 World of Children Health Award.
