Campaigns
- In 2009, GOH partnered with 13 Taiwanese and international organizations, including Coalition against Trafficking in Women International, launched an international campaign to oppose legalizing prostitution in Taiwan.
- In 2009, GOH has led the Taiwan NGO CEDAW Report Working Group to monitor women’s rights in Taiwan by applying the international convention. The Report focused on violence against women, with two specific chapters addressed the needs of girls: teen pregnancy & commercial sexual exploitation.
- In 2009, GOH and the Anti-Trafficking Alliance successfully pushed for the adoption of the Anti-Trafficking Act in Taiwan, which will provide the ground for protecting many women exploited in sex and labor trafficking.
- In 2008, GOH launched the Chinese Network to End Gender-Based Violence, which unites organizations from Taiwan, Hong Kong & China that devote to ending gender-based violence against women and girls.
- In 2010, after two years of public fundraising efforts, GOH is going to launch a whole new program to assist & empower dropout girls with building life skills, unfolding potentials into capacities and developing a new life path that leads to a fruitful future!
Services
- In 2008, GOH provided vital assistance to more than 112,304 women & children suffered in sexual assault, domestic violence, teen pregnancy and sexual exploitation, in 12 cities in Taiwan.
- In 2008, GOH walked with 10,313 women and 185 child survivors of domestic violence through the most difficult time of their life. More than 13,000 potential child victims of domestic violence had been sensitized through ‘Papa Elephant Sees Red’, the first Chinese child book dedicated to children exposed to domestic violence. Thanks to the award of the World of Children that makes this possible!
- In 2008, GOH sheltered 113 teen mothers to get through their turbulent terms of pregnancy, and assisted them developing parental skills and chartering the future plan.
